In 2010, progressive illness and spinal injury paralyzed Cornelia’s voice and threatened her life. Music became Cornelia’s lifeline, and her voice guided the artist to explore the relationship between music and (human) nature. From her creative process, a genuine method of musical osteopathy unfolded. In The Song Within, Cornelia shares her experienced knowledge and assists her readers in finding their voice and experiencing the transformative power of music.
"The Song Within is an amazing testimonial of a life out-of-sync and filled with trauma that came to a joyous and graceful evolution.
Cornelia’s research and book are brilliant - a rich and colorful tapestry that weaves together all the tones and microtones and connects them to our structural, emotional, and spiritual being.
Her writing is poetry in motion. Her graphs and charts are beautiful and illuminating. She provides many different exercises to assist beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
The Song Within is a gem - a treasure for anyone interested in finding their voice and using their voice to bring back and foster health and wholeness.
"Dr. June Leslie Wieder - Author of Song of the Spine; The Human Symphony: Healing with Sound and Vibration
Life sings
The orbit is abuzz with celestial song
And we are children of resonance
Evolved from the vibrational matrix
We call the universe
Indigenous to music
Dear Reader,
I am genuinely glad this book has found you, and I look forward to taking you on an immersive voyage into the miraculous, mind-bending realm of rhythm, intervallic symmetry, and sympathetic vibration from which all life unfolds.
Born of music, human biology sings.
You, too, are a Being of Resonance. Your very spine is an expression of the Chromatic Scale, the proportions of your face, torso, and limbs are commensurate with the famous Golden Ratio, a.k.a. Fibonacci Series, and rhythmic and intervallic patterns are deeply woven into your brain and neural circuits – your neurons have an impeccable sense of rhythm.
Tonal communication through pitches, vowel chains, and melodic and rhythmic patterns long preceded the spoken word. Ancient healers, scholars, and scientists of all cultures had knowledge of Nature’s musical design and the healing power of specific pitches, intervals, and rhythms. Music to them was not merely a cultural artifact but essential to our individual and collective well-being on the mental-emotional, spiritual, and physical levels.
Hence, it is no casual coincidence, that when babies, toddlers, and young children explore their voices, they all intone intervallic patterns derived from the Pentatonic Scale, a five-note scale virtually all folk music traditions have unfolded from. These are the same intervals we find in countless nursery rhymes – the same intervals that inspirit John Coltrane’s motif of his ethereal masterpiece A Love Supreme.
Ever since I can remember, the realm of music has been my Zen and my Happy Place. Long before I had the language to describe it, I became aware of my ability to perceive sound and music kinesthetically, and over time, I learned that my voice could travel through my body, resonate with and express all the emotional shadings of my rich inner world.
As a musical artist, I spent much of my life in the convivial, intangible realm of sound; I connected with people from all walks of life and experienced the wondrous joy of syncing our souls, hearts, and minds through sympathetic vibration.
But then, at the age of 44, tragedy struck. My fulfilling performance and teaching career was suddenly disrupted by severe illness and spinal injury, and before I knew it, I found myself fighting to stay alive. Yet, to my utter dismay, allopathic mainstream medicine failed to offer both - answers to my questions and a vision of my thriving. My out-of-syncness had several interconnected layers: mercury poisoning, long-Lyme, structural injury, and re-traumatization. Throughout this maelstrom of excruciating pain, anguish, and the progressive loss of integrity and abilities, it was music and the creative process that eventually guided me in the right direction and revealed to me The Song Within - Nature’s genuine wisdom, which inspirits and governs her extraordinary resilience.
“Only when we listen to Nature’s Song Within us
can we truly thrive.”
Cornelia Moore
Researching the interconnections between the human skeletal, nervous, and meridian systems and music, I discovered a poetic gateway to inner-body awareness, healing, and thriving. My research in the wondrous realm of sound has made me aware of the Symphony of Life made manifest in (human) nature and biology, humming in our bones, meridians, and neural circuits. Over the years, I have developed a genuine way of interacting with this awe-inspiring vibrational matrix, using musical instruments and, more specifically, my voice.
How Does the Bumble Bee Fly?
Beyond the realm of cognitive understanding exists the realm of the miraculous that I may never be able to grasp. While I may be able to explore, describe, and analyze the mechanisms, phenomena, and interrelationships I perceive in this magnificent world we live in, I may never understand the underlying, awe-inspiring source of it all. But nevertheless, I CAN be(come) aware of its wisdom on all levels of my being and partake of its splendor.
Whenever I am completely in the NOW, immersed in the creative process; whenever I surrender to what IS and feel things deeply; whenever I am connecting with another living creature, I get precious glimpses of this wondrous realm. It is then that I am intensely aware of the essence of who and what I am, and nothing I have experienced can ever destroy this invincible core.
Staying connected to the music flowing underneath it all helped me morph and grow into my evolved integrity. Today, I am grateful beyond words to be alive - deeply transformed and empowered by everything I have learned on this journey.
How the Knowing Occurs
I have been dealing with my life’s challenges from an artist’s vantage point. Every artistic process is deeply personal. Yet, during this process, the artist transcends their own personal experience and creates a statement of truth that hopefully resonates with others. In doing so, the artist often captures the Zeitgeist of an era and offers a vision of growth and positive change. In this narrative, I am purposely “switching lanes” between “the personal” and “the professional”; the “patient” and “the artist-explorer-teacher”; the experience and the conclusion; the factual and the wondrous, metaphorical. The “patient” and the “artist” are in constant dialogue and interaction.
The understanding that the separation between the physical and subtle realms of existence is merely an illusion is one of the premises of my work – and a premise upon which virtually every holistic healing approach is based. I, in turn, wish to draw you, dear reader, into the creative process of perceiving – experiencing – becoming aware – understanding – accepting – expressing – and transcending.
I have developed my method of Musical Osteopathy by dialoguing with the symptoms that my soul-mind-body communicated to me; hence, I find it necessary to include selected descriptions of my out-of-syncness in this book. At the end of the respective sections, I list selected references and sources for those of my readers who wish to learn more about mercury poisoning, Lyme, high sensitivity, neuroscience, holistic healing approaches, etc.
This syllabus is my honest attempt to document the life-changing experiences Life gifted me in the realm of sound and silence. “My story” is actually of no importance – neither does it define me, nor do I feel attached to it – it is merely a way of illustrating and relating these experiences to you.
The Human Body Has Agency
If resonance is a biological reality, if the nervous system is inherently rhythmic, and the spine is designed like a musical instrument attuned to and sounding chromatic relationships, then vibration can, indeed, influence our state of being.
And music ceases to be merely something we do.
It becomes something we are.
Part of our very architecture, our habitat, and our heritage.
It gives our bodies agency.
And this Book, dear reader, is as much about YOU
as it is about me.
It is all about the experiences YOU will make on this voyage into the realm of sound and wonderment; and how YOUR perception of yourself and YOUR awareness of BEING may shift and evolve through these experiences. In the course of this voyage, you are going to meet your Innate Musical Osteopath and experience the Art of Listening and Inner-Body Awareness. Note by note, you learn how to strengthen your self-healing competence, heal and hone your instrument, and foster your well-being.
In sharing my journey from Pain Body to Joy Body, I am passionately inviting you to get intimately acquainted with the fabric of Life made manifest in all of us, rejoice in the miracle YOU are, and unlock the doors to your individual and humanity’s collective thriving.
“Truth is a vibe
That cannot be denied
Once you conceive it
When I’m in sync with my vibe
I’m traveling with the light”
From “In Sync with My Vibe” by Cornelia Moore

(Preface to The SONG WITHIN)
"Cornelia's honest voice draws us in. We become aware of the wondrous reality of Being and feel connected to ALL. Her words do that."
