CORONA DIARIES Part 1 - A PANSY'S TALE

Updated: Apr 21

When I was about four or five years old, my sister and I both contracted measles. I remember being in bed, feeling miserable and weak from the fever. Through the drawn curtains, a thin ray of sun was flowing into our room and across my bed. My mother tiptoed in, sat on the edge of my bed, and asked me if there was anything I would like for her to bring me...anything that would help me feel better. "Flowers", I answered, "I would like some flowers". Then I drifted off to sleep.

The next thing I remember is my mom placing a terracotta pot overflowing with pansies on the small table beside my bed - eye level, so I could see the flowers' friendly faces. Then she smiled at me and gently caressed my cheek. The rush of love and gratitude I felt at that moment was overwhelming - in a realm beyond words, my mom and I shared love.

The memory of this golden, blissful moment has brought me solace in many moments of grief, fear, and Ohnmacht. Up to this day, every spring I plant pansies on my balcony. And in these beyond-trying times, these beloved pansies are my constant - both awakening and harmonizing my senses with their vibrant colors, their sweet fragrance, and their benevolent faces. Surrounded by my floral friends I feel a deep sense of calm and contentment.

"The essence of the world is a flower."

These wise words, spoken by The Last Gardner of Aleppo, ring true in my heart, mind, and soul.

I wish my FB family and friends that same sense of calm and contentment. We ALL are the Beauty we Behold. And in each and every one of us a flower blooms. As we maneuver through these weeks of uncertainty, sadness, loss, and grief, may this understanding foster our visions of "evolved normalcy". May our thoughts and actions unfold from this inner source of LOVE, guiding us to create an environment where ALL of Life can thrive.

Whether we are celebrating Easter, Passover, or Ramadan; whether we are Buddhist, Hindu, or Atheist, we have all unfolded "from the same cloth". I pray that this truth liberates our hearts, minds, and souls, and that, together, we are making this world a better place to live in.

TOGETHER WE find a way and WE stay healthy.

Love and Light from me to you.
