CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2020
METAMORPHOSIS
This original composition of mine was recorded live at Siemensvilla/Berlin in 2003, featuring Mack Goldsbury on soprano saxophone, Kevin Burrell on percussion, and Reggie Moore on piano. For all of us, this recording was a golden moment in time. We were positioned in a large circle, facing each other...listening to and resonating with each other's truths...weaving our individual statements into a joint expression of the human experience, and, ultimately, sharing the joy of METAMORPHOSIS. Together.
This is what I love most about being a (musical) artist.
WE RESONATE WITH EACH OTHER.
BEHOLDING and LISTENING to each other in the realm of Beauty and Truth. RELIVING and RELATING to all those universal stories that have been passed down to us and are, literally, still reverberating in our very bones: Stories of love and longing, grief and sorrow, fear and anger, hope and perseverance, inner vision and forgiveness.
It is in the EMPATHIC SHARING of our moments of insight and impasse that we are crossing over to the other side of every feeling there is.
ACKNOWLEDGING our SHARED HUMANNESS as we are VOICING our deepest fears, our pain, and our capacity to love and be loved; TRANSCENDING hate, trauma, and injustice experienced – both individually and collectively – as we are MAKING MANIFEST our INNER VISIONS of LOVE.
LIVING the CHANGE we wish to see in this word – if only for the duration of a SONG.
EVOLVING TOGETHER.
In light of the crisis, we find ourselves in, I pray that mankind is going to understand the interconnectedness of ALL LIFE, and metamorph into a higher state of AWARENESS.
And that our "NEW NORMAL" will unfold from this awareness.
Love&Light&Music&Peace from me to you.
